About Our Capitol Hill Dental Practice
Dr. Nishan Halim arrived in July, 2013 to carry on the practice started in 1976 by retiring Dr. Jeffrey Stallsmith. Four years later, the practice of Nishan Halim, DMD has become an important part of the Capitol Hill community in its own right. The practice has won three notable awards thanks to votes by enthusiastic and loyal patients.
Nishan Halim, DMD, specializes in adult and pediatric restorative and cosmetic dentistry, as well as preventative dentistry, which is at the heart of this general and family dental care practice. Enjoy the website and we look forward to welcoming you into the family as a new or returning patient!
Alicia (Halim) joined the practice in 2015, with a strong background in dental assisting and practice management, from previous jobs. Alicia will likely be the first person you see when you walk through the door. Her warmth and smile can put even the most dental-phobic person at ease. As the Team Leader, Alicia supervises the other administrative staff and sometimes helps out chairside, too.
At the moment, Alicia is on family leave following the birth of Dr. Halim’s and her second child in November 2018. While she is away, the front desk and all your patient information needs are in Erica’s capable hands.
Katina has been a practicing dental assistant since 1998 and loves her work. A native of the Washington, DC area, Katina will tell you that her favorite thing about dental assisting is that she gets to play an active role in helping change people’s lives. The patients she serves will tell you that she is “sweet, friendly, and thoughtful.” We agree. When Katina isn’t working she enjoys spending time with family – a husband, four children, and one grandson. Katina joined the practice team in 2016. We are glad she is here and think you will be, too!
Catrya is the team member that will assist you with your appointment scheduling. This Washington native is no stranger to customer service in the healthcare industry, with 10 years of experience prior to joining this team in 2016. “I enjoy working for a company that provides superior care while maintaining the warmth and hospitality of a small business.” Some of Catrya’s outside interests include art, photography, cycling, coffee and philosophy. Get to know Catrya and she will help to ensure that your visit is seamless and stress-free.
Erica’s experience serving in the dentistry field dates all the way back to her adolescent years working in her very own father’s dentist practice. Having grown up working in a dentist office, Erica will tell you that her favorite aspect is having the ability to interact with patients and actually see the transformation that they undergo – when having major work done. As the Financial Coordinator, Erica is the one processing payments and organizing financial transactions. When she leaves the office, you just might find her playing basketball – her favorite sport. She may only be 5 feet tall, but she’s got a mean jump shot!
Tiffany brings 9 years of experience in customer service to our team – which explains why her number one motto for each patient is to always offer great chairside hospitality. Her top recommendation – using Sonicare and a water pick once a day, keeps the dentist away. A dental visit shouldn’t be dreadful, and with Tiffany at your side, it won’t be. Her goal is to ensure that you leave our office with enough laughs to brighten your day and hopefully inspire your next visit. Struggling to rein in her cheerful nature, Tiffany tries to refrain from giving too many high fives, but if you should happen to put your hand up, the rest is out of her control.
Lauren is our lead hygienist. She is highly skilled and knowledgeable regarding Periodontal Health and takes great pride in patient care and continuing education. Originally hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Lauren graduated from her hygiene program and moved to Washington, D.C. in 2012. As much as she prides herself on providing stellar dental care, what she enjoys most is the relationship she forms with each patient. When she’s not cleaning teeth, Lauren is either shooting hoops or following one of her favorite ATL professional teams! *Fun fact: did you know that all of the Atlanta professional sports teams are named after types of birds?!
Dr. Halim’s reputation and popularity have been growing since he set up practice in the bustling Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington DC. Singles, couples, children… all are welcome and cared for like family.
